Durante ese mes, unos 6000-7000 guerrilleros de la <strong>Agrupaci\u00f3n de Guerrilleros Espa\u00f1oles<\/strong> (AGE), todos exiliados en Francia y coordinados a trav\u00e9s de la <strong>Uni\u00f3n Nacional Espa\u00f1ola<\/strong> (UNE) bajo la direcci\u00f3n del <strong>Partido Comunista de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> (PCE, con Jes\u00fas Monz\u00f3n Reparaz a la cabeza), cruzaron los Pirineos en el marco de la que denominaron como <strong>Operaci\u00f3n Reconquista de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>, con la esperanza de provocar un levantamiento general contra el r\u00e9gimen de Franco.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A pesar de que la operaci\u00f3n se realiz\u00f3 mediante incursiones a lo largo de buena parte de toda la cordillera de los Pirineos, el objetivo principal de la operaci\u00f3n era la toma del Val d&#8217;Aran, donde la AGE concentr\u00f3 el grueso de sus fuerzas (unos 3000-4000 guerrilleros). Durante varios d\u00edas, los guerrilleros ocuparon localidades y posiciones estrat\u00e9gicas del valle. Sin embargo, la esperada insurrecci\u00f3n popular, en la que confiaban los mandos y de la que depend\u00eda el impacto nacional e internacional, no lleg\u00f3 a producirse.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"983\" height=\"822\" src=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12414\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.1958891311118032;width:476px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1.png 983w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1-300x251.png 300w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1-768x642.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 983px) 100vw, 983px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mapa esquem\u00e1tico de la Operaci\u00f3n Reconquista.<br>Fuente: <a href=\"https:\/\/vidangoz.com\/bidankozarte\/?p=2318\">https:\/\/vidangoz.com\/bidankozarte\/?p=2318<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>El r\u00e9gimen franquista reaccion\u00f3 r\u00e1pidamente enviando a la zona varios altos mandos del ej\u00e9rcito (generales Mola y Yag\u00fce entre otros), numerosas tropas y fuerzas de seguridad de modo que, ante tal superioridad y la falta de apoyo interno, los mandos guerrilleros (Santiago Carrillo por parte del PCE y el general Luis Fern\u00e1ndez) decidieron retirar la mayor parte de sus fuerzas hacia Francia.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A pesar de que la operaci\u00f3n fracas\u00f3 en su objetivo militar, marc\u00f3 un punto de inflexi\u00f3n en la Espa\u00f1a de a\u00f1os posteriores: muchos de aquellos combatientes no abandonaron la lucha, sino que regresaron a Espa\u00f1a para incorporarse a las partidas que continuar\u00edan la resistencia armada durante los a\u00f1os siguientes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por su singularidad y significaci\u00f3n en el conflicto entre la guerrilla antifranquista y el r\u00e9gimen, la Operaci\u00f3n Reconquista ha sido parte de <strong>Guerrilleros<\/strong> desde su dise\u00f1o original. Sin embargo, <strong>el \u00e9xito de la operaci\u00f3n recae enormemente en su preparaci\u00f3n<\/strong>. De forma an\u00e1loga, el r\u00e9gimen deber\u00e1 invertir esfuerzos en ella para que no proporcione grandes beneficios al maquis si decide ejecutarla &#8211; o incluso se los proporcione al propio r\u00e9gimen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preparaci\u00f3n de la operaci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La guerrilla dispone de las seis primeras rondas de juego para disparar la operaci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, antes de hacerlo, debe prepararse. Para ello, el maquis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dispone de 3 unidades de la AGE desde el inicio, cada una de fuerza 2, situadas en Francia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Puede asignar cartas de maniobra marcadas con un icono circular con una \u00abP\u00bb para asignar a los Pirineos (boca abajo) y cuyos puntos de maniobra se sumar\u00e1n a las fuerzas enviadas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Puede usar los beneficios de las cartas de guerrillero \u00abCoronel Albert\u00bb o \u00abMariano\u00bb que tiene desde el inicio de la partida. Son excluyentes entre s\u00ed pero cualquiera de las dos le dar\u00e1 un beneficio de cara a la operaci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Si lo obtiene, puede usar el guerrillero \u00abVillacampa\u00bb para sumar sus puntos de maniobra a la batalla.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por su parte, el r\u00e9gimen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Puede activar la <strong>Filtraci\u00f3n de la Gestapo<\/strong> descartando una carta con un icono circular de una \u00abP\u00bb antes del inicio de la operaci\u00f3n para destinar 3 unidades de fuerza 2 a los Pirineos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Como el maquis, puede asignar a los Pirineos boca abajo cartas de maniobra marcadas con un icono circular con una \u00abP\u00bb, para sumar sus puntos de maniobra cuando comience la operaci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cuando se inicie la operaci\u00f3n, puede destinar una, dos o tres de las tropas de monta\u00f1a (cada una con fuerza 3) situadas en los frentes para apoyar la defensa con su fuerza.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Resoluci\u00f3n de la invasi\u00f3n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuando el maquis dispara la operaci\u00f3n, justo tras finalizar una ronda y comenzar la siguiente, cada bando hace <strong>recuento de todas las fuerzas presentes en el conflicto<\/strong>, consistente en la suma de fuerzas de sus unidades participantes, puntos de las cartas de maniobra y guerrilleros destinadas a los Pirineos, a los que cada bando a\u00f1ade el valor de un dado lanzado para la ocasi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Con los resultados totales sumados, se consulta una tabla de resultados donde se confrontan ambos valores y se aplica su efecto en forma de beneficios para un bando, perjuicios para otro, o sin efecto alguno:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"741\" src=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1024x741.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1024x741.png 1024w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-768x555.png 768w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image.png 1142w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Tabla de tiradas comparadas para averiguar el resultado de la operaci\u00f3n.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por ejemplo, en una partida, el maquis dispone por defecto de sus tres unidades de fuerza 2 en Francia; adem\u00e1s, ha destinado una \u00fanica carta de maniobras con 2 puntos de maniobra a los Pirineos y ha escogido a Mariano como guerrillero, que le dar\u00e1 un beneficio u otro en funci\u00f3n del resultado de la operaci\u00f3n. Por su parte, el r\u00e9gimen no ha enviado ninguna carta al conflicto, pero s\u00ed ha ejecutado la Filtraci\u00f3n de la Gestapo, permiti\u00e9ndole desplegar tres unidades de fuerza 2 en los Pirineos. En este instante, el maquis decide lanzar la operaci\u00f3n, y cada bando hace recuento de su fuerza:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>El maquis cuenta con un total de 12 puntos provinientes de: tres unidades de fuerza 2 (6 puntos), una carta de maniobras de 2 puntos de maniobra (2 puntos), y un lanzamiento del dado cuyo resultado ha sido 4.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>El r\u00e9gimen cuenta con un total de 17 puntos provinientes de: tres unidades de fuerza 2 (6 puntos), decide tomar del tablero y destinar a los Pirineos a dos de sus tropas de monta\u00f1a (6 puntos), y un lanzamiento del dado cuyo resultado ha sido 5.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consultando la tabla 17 vs 12 resulta en la ganancia de +1 Prestigio para el r\u00e9gimen. Es decir, la operaci\u00f3n ha sido un fracaso sin paliativos: no s\u00f3lo el maquis no ha conseguido infiltrar alguna partida en la pen\u00ednsula y da\u00f1ar al r\u00e9gimen sino que el r\u00e9gimen ha conseguido reforzar su prestigio a su costa. Adem\u00e1s, debido a la cancelaci\u00f3n de la operaci\u00f3n (y a menos que otro efecto lo evite), el maquis aumentar\u00e1 +1 Traici\u00f3n. During that month, some 6,000\u20137,000 guerrilleros from the <strong>Agrupaci\u00f3n de Guerrilleros Espa\u00f1oles<\/strong> (AGE), all exiles in France and coordinated through the <strong>Spanish National Union<\/strong> (UNE) under the leadership of the <strong>Spanish Communist Party<\/strong> (PCE, headed by Jes\u00fas Monz\u00f3n Reparaz), crossed the Pyrenees as part of what they called \u2018<strong>Operation Reconquista de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>\u2019, in the hope of sparking a general uprising against Franco\u2019s regime.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Although the operation was carried out through raids across much of the Pyrenees mountain range, its main objective was the capture of the Val d\u2019Aran, where the AGE concentrated the bulk of its forces (some 3,000\u20134,000 guerrilleros). For several days, the guerrillas occupied towns and strategic positions in the valley. However, the expected popular uprising \u2013 on which the commanders were relying and upon which the national and international impact depended \u2013 failed to materialise.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"983\" height=\"822\" src=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12414\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.1958891311118032;width:476px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1.png 983w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1-300x251.png 300w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1-768x642.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 983px) 100vw, 983px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Schematic map of the Operation Reconquista.<br>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/vidangoz.com\/bidankozarte\/?p=2318\">https:\/\/vidangoz.com\/bidankozarte\/?p=2318<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Franco regime reacted swiftly by sending several senior army commanders (Generals Mola and Yag\u00fce, amongst others), numerous troops and security forces to the area; as a result, faced with such overwhelming superiority and a lack of internal support, the guerrilla leaders (Santiago Carrillo on behalf of the PCE and General Luis Fern\u00e1ndez) decided to withdraw most of their forces to France.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Although the operation failed to achieve its military objective, it marked a turning point for Spain in the years that followed: many of those fighters did not give up the struggle, but returned to Spain to join the guerrilla groups that would continue the armed resistance in the years to come.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Owing to its uniqueness and significance in the conflict between the anti-Franco guerrillas and the regime, <strong>Operation Reconquista<\/strong> has been part of <strong>Guerrilleros <\/strong>since its original design. Its presentation, mechanics and gameplay have gone through several stages and, following numerous revisions, it has been defined as a <strong>one-off battle <\/strong>that briefly sets aside the normal course of the game and is <strong>resolved quickly and simply<\/strong>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"510\" src=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/opreconquista-1024x510.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/opreconquista-1024x510.png 1024w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/opreconquista-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/opreconquista-768x383.png 768w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/opreconquista-1536x765.png 1536w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/opreconquista.png 1811w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Part of the board where the Operation Reconquista elements are placed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As this is an operation carried out by the guerrilla forces, the maquis player decides when to carry it out. However, the success of the operation depends heavily on its preparation. Similarly, the regime must devote considerable effort to this preparation so that, should the maquis side decide to carry out the operation, it does not yield significant benefits to the maquis or even get benefits out of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preparation for the operation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The guerrilleros have the first six rounds of the game to launch the operation. However, before doing so, they must prepare for it. To this end, the maquis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have 3 AGE units from the start, each with a strength of 2, located in France.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They may assign manoeuvre cards marked with a circular icon containing a \u2018P\u2019 to the Pyrenees (face down), and the manoeuvre points on these cards will be added to the forces deployed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may use the benefits of the \u2018Coronel Albert\u2019 or \u2018Mariano\u2019 guerrillero cards that you have from the start of the game. These are mutually exclusive, but either one will grant you a benefit for the operation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you obtain it, you may use the \u2018Villacampa\u2019 guerrillero card to add his manoeuvre points to the battle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For its part, the regime:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You may activate the &#8216;Gestapo Filtration&#8217; by discarding a card bearing a circular \u2018P\u2019 icon before the start of the operation, in order to deploy 3 units of strength 2 to the Pyrenees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Like the Maquis, you may assign manoeuvre cards marked with a circular \u2018P\u2019 icon to the Pyrenees, face down, to add their manoeuvre points when the operation starts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the operation begins, you may assign one, two or three of the mountain troops (each with strength 3) located on the fronts to support the defence with their strength.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Resolution of the invasion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the maquis launch the operation, immediately after one round ends and the next begins, each side counts up all the forces involved in the conflict, consisting of the combined strength of their participating units, points from manoeuvre cards and guerrillas deployed to the Pyrenees, to which each side adds the value of a die rolled for the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the total results have been added up, a results table is consulted in which the two values are compared, and their effect is applied in the form of benefits for one side, disadvantages for the other, or no effect at all:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"741\" src=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1024x741.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-1024x741.png 1024w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-768x555.png 768w, https:\/\/edicionesmasqueoca.com\/diarios\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image.png 1142w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Operation results table where the two final forces are compared to determine the benefits.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, in a game, the Maquis have, by default, their three Strength 2 units in France; furthermore, they have allocated a single manoeuvre card with 2 manoeuvre points to the Pyrenees and have chosen Mariano as a guerrilla fighter, who will grant them one benefit or another depending on the outcome of the operation. For its part, the regime has not sent any cards to the conflict, but has carried out the Gestapo Infiltration, allowing it to deploy three strength 2 units in the Pyrenees. At this point, the Maquis decides to launch the operation, and each side takes stock of its forces:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Maquis has a total of 12 points, comprising: three Force 2 units (6 points), a manoeuvre card worth 2 manoeuvre points (2 points), and a dice roll resulting in a 4.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The regime has a total of 17 points, comprising: three units with a strength of 2 (6 points); it decides to remove two of its mountain troops from the board and deploy them to the Pyrenees (6 points); and a dice roll resulting in a 5.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consulting Table 17 vs 12 results in a gain of +1 Prestige for the regime. In other words, the operation has been an unmitigated failure: not only have the maquis failed to infiltrate any units onto the peninsula and inflict damage on the regime, but the regime has managed to bolster its prestige at their expense. Furthermore, due to the cancellation of the operation (and unless another effect prevents it), the maquis will gain +1 Betrayal. Following this, both sides continue the game on the rest of the board, starting the next round as normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although this is merely an example, it clearly illustrates how the operation can have a greater or lesser impact, depending on the deployment of forces by each side prior to its resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I hope this summary of Operation Reconquista has given you a bit more of a feel for the game\u2019s atmosphere.
